From a Bookkeeper
To an Accountant
Meet Maaz. He started his career with a firm of chartered accountants, as a bookkeeper on external audits. Then two years at an accounting firm, reconciling VAT and end-of-year accounts. He worked with several UK companies that outsourced their payroll and tax functions, payroll reconciliation, VAT, corporation tax, and personal tax accounts with HMRC.
Meet David. David Richardson FCA is our UK Accountant (https://deciphr.co.uk) with too much work. He interviewed four candidates remotely and he chose Maaz. It hasn't been easy for David because he needs to find time to transfer knowledge, but we are getting there now, and Maaz and his assistant are essential to the team. His business is growing.
Meet the Team. The Deciphr Team communicates via Teams and a WhatsApp group that includes a GD&D member, so we can intervene if needed. That is what makes the difference: supervision. I asked David what he thought the benefit to his business was, and he said this: "The quality of work is far higher than I would get in the UK, particularly with the day-to-day work, as clients have a price expectation that I have to meet. It also frees me up to look at more interesting work, including grants like R&D and how to better structure some of my clients' companies". So, it's not just a question of cost, it's time freed up too.
